Montana residents may know that traumatic events may cause varying degrees of anxiety. Some individuals may experience continuing anxiety long after the event is over that interferes with their daily life. This is referred to as post-traumatic stress disorder. Negligent drivers make Montana roads and highways more dangerous. Distracted driving can lead to serious accidents that subsequently cause traumatic injuries. In addition to common injuries such as broken bones and strained muscles, skull fractures can result after a substantial blow to the head in a vehicle accident.
Persons who are involved in a rollover collision are 30 times more likely to die as a result than those involved in other types of motor vehicle accidents. Certain types of vehicles, including SUVs, vans and trucks have a higher likelihood of rolling over due to having higher centers of gravity, but any vehicle can potentially have a rollover accident.
On Aug. 2, the Montana Highway Patrol responded to a 5-car accident that happened on Highway 287 close to the community of Cameron in western Montana. It was around 5:40 p.m. when two northbound vehicles slowed down to make a left-hand turn into Cameron. The second vehicle was rear-ended by a third, and as it spun out of control, it moved into southbound traffic colliding with a Jeep towing a travel trailer. Wreckage from the crash impacted a fifth vehicle.
It seems that no students were seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash outside of Bozeman, Montana that left the driver of one vehicle seriously injured. The car accident occurred when the driver of a sedan careened into the back of a chartered bus carrying a large number of area students.
When a trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol investigates a car accident and says that he has seen fatal crashes with less vehicle damage, those involved in the current accident are lucky to walk away with minor injuries. This recently happened in a three-vehicle car accident near Polson. The trooper said that seatbelts contributed to the lack of serious injury.
