Ronan man dead after U.S. 93 car accident

Some people take risks every day by heading to a job with a lot of hazards or defending their country in military service. For most Americans, however, the greatest daily risk in their lives may be sitting in a motor vehicle and headed out for errands.

Even in Montana, a giant state with plenty of open roads to explore, there is the risk of collision. Highways that allow high speeds often permit serious accidents as well, because the force involved in an accident when one or more drivers are going fast has more potential to cause damage and injury. This is especially true if one or more drivers is intoxicated or otherwise incompetent.

Pedestrians are at particular risk because they have no protection in an accident. A 26-year-old man from Ronan is dead after a crash in the Mission Valley. A 56-year-old Polson resident apparently struck him with her car in the southbound lane of U.S. Route 93.

Emergency services transported the victim to a hospital in his hometown, where he died of his injuries. The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating alcohol as a factor in the fatal collision. The driver was transported to the hospital for observation but did not appear injured.

The victims of motor vehicle accidents and the survivors of people killed in them have the right to claim financial damages in civil court. Although monetary compensation is little comfort after the unexpected loss of a life, a lawsuit can help secure the future for the family or estate of a deceased person with the right legal representation.
