Montana crash kills one, injures several others

A 38-year-old-man died from the injuries he suffered in a crash involving two vehicles on a highway outside of Bozeman near Montana City. The fatal accident occurred at about 1:40 a.m. near mile marker 189.

A representative of the Montana Highway Patrol stated that a southbound truck veered into the median and apparently over-corrected. It then traveled back into the median and flipped over into the highway's northbound lane where it then collided with an oncoming vehicle. Four people were inside that vehicle.

Some of the injured people from the northbound car were transported to St. Peters Hospital in Helena. Others were taken to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls. A highway patrol representative reported that alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash. It was not determined whether anybody involved in the wreck was wearing seat belts or whether speed contributed to the accident.

The family of a victim who is killed in a crash may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney in order to determine if filing a wrongful death claim on behalf of their loved one is appropriate. In car accident cases, a review of the police accident report along with statements from any witnesses may be of assistance in proving negligent conduct. A guilty verdict or a plea of guilty to driving while intoxicated might also be used against the liable driver to support allegations of negligence. A family may be compensated for economic damages like medical and funeral bills as well as non-economic damages such as the loss of the deceased's companionship and society.
