Tire debris on Montana's Interstate 90 causes fatal accident

The aftermath of injury and death that results from Montana traffic accidents can be extremely difficult for victims to navigate. From a financial, physical and emotional perspective, Montana residents can be crippled and paralyzed after being involved in an accident. Even more difficult is what family members must face after losing a loved one to a fatal accident.

On Aug. 20, a 26-year-old woman from Missoula was killed in an Interstate 90 accident. The two-vehicle car crash occurred while the young woman was driving eastward on the interstate. The car in front of her struck part of a semi-truck tire which had been obstructing the roadway. The debris flew up into the air toward the young woman's car and when she swerved out of he way, her vehicle went out of control.

After the woman's car flew across the median into oncoming traffic, she was struck by a sport utility vehicle. She was killed at the scene of the accident. A man and woman from Germany were driving in the sport utility vehicle and they both suffered injuries. They are 37 and 31 years of age, respectfully.

A fatal accident like this, caused by the debris of a semi-truck tire could have been avoided had the owner of the semi-truck maintained the vehicle properly. Semi-truck debris on Montana roadways has caused many catastrophic accidents and those responsible for that debris can, in some cases, be held liable for any injury or fatal accident they caused. Although every case is different, the family members of people killed by semi-truck tire debris can, in some instances, seek compensation through a personal injury wrongful death claim.
