Driver using cellphone involved in three-vehicle accident

When a trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol investigates a car accident and says that he has seen fatal crashes with less vehicle damage, those involved in the current accident are lucky to walk away with minor injuries. This recently happened in a three-vehicle car accident near Polson. The trooper said that seatbelts contributed to the lack of serious injury.

Montana man sentenced to 30 years for fatal drunk driving crash

While all fatal car accidents are tragic, those that involve drunk driving are often particularly disturbing. This is because drunk driving accidents are so easily preventable. Oil companies under scrutiny following derailments

Recent explosive train derailments have put safety concerns in the oil industry back in the limelight. Just Last year, 47 people died when a train carrying oil derailed in Quebec. Issues have been raised over shipping oil by rail and inaccurate labeling of containers. Recently, the Department of Transportation cited three large oil companies for mislabeling their crude oil tanker cars. Of the 18 samples taken from cargo tanks, 11 were found to be mislabeled. The department’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration  fined the three companies $93,000.

Detached horse trailer causes fatal accident on Montana highway

Towing a trailer of any kind takes care and heightened awareness when traveling on a Montana highway. A large and heavy trailer can become disconnected due to negligence on part of the person making the hitch connection, a faulty mechanism or just a random accident. When a trailer does disconnect from its tow while in motion, there is great risk that it could be involved in a serious or fatal accident with another vehicle. Recently, a late-morning trailer problem on a local Montana highway resulted in a fatal accident.
